Abstract: Most studies of soil-atmosphere greenhouse gas exchange in Arctic and sub-Arctic wetlands have used chamber techniques during growing season. These experiments show measurements of CH₄, CO₂ and water using both chambers and eddy correlation technique from thaw period in early spring and midsummer, at Abisko. Methane exchange is compared and evaluated in relation to temperature variations and atmospheric conductance. Profound diurnal cycle was seen in release of methane, emphasising importance of continuous measurements when calculating integrated fluxes.
