Abstract: | Combination of trade and administration was decisive step in urbanisation of Rovaniemi and was primary reason for accumulation from 1930s onwards. It is now 35th town in Finland, with 35 000 population, and is only second town not founded as such, and is on important trade routes, including railway. |
