| Abstract: | In Norway regional history is bound up with busy research into local history. EU idea has fostered same. Paper considers concepts related to "region" and leads to opposing positions of essentialism and constructivism. Name Hålogaland (essentialist) could not be adopted without misunderstanding, so Nord-Norge (constructivist) was born around coffee table in Christiana. Theories of regionalism are explained and related to theme of chapter. |
