Abstract: Words "birkarl" and "Kven" are not clear definitions, since they are used as own names, pejorative names, descriptions of life style, names given by administrators, economic and functional names, names taken from territory, or religious identity. In North Calotte are found terms Kven, Kainu, Karelians, Birkarls, Lapps, Finns, Terfinns... These are expanded.
