Abstract: Article considers aspects of women's importance in religious developments in Norrland during first half of 19th Cent. It summarises new pietism there, then gives author's observations of women's preaching, revaluation of old outlook and establishment of new. Men and women preachers were active in small groups in and outside home, often in conflict with church leaders. Author relates cases of several women of zeal and influence, and notes how some were described as "N.'s servant" despite leading role. Some were in demand by men and women even when "retired", some were persecuted.
