Record #144244:

The Proterozoic Thule Supergroup, Greenland and Canada: history, lithostratigraphy and development / Peter R. Dawes.

Title: The Proterozoic Thule Supergroup, Greenland and Canada: history, lithostratigraphy and development / Peter R. Dawes.
Author(s): Dawes, Peter R.
Date: 1997.
In: Geology of Greenland Survey Bulletin. (1997.), Vol. 174 (1997)
Abstract: New lithostratigraphic scheme is presented (with late note p.150). Basin contains nearly pristine strata at least 6 km thick, composed of continental to shallow marine sediments with prominent red bed units, and main interval of basaltic volcanic rocks. Diabase sills representing both Mackenzie and Franklin magmatic episodes occur at certain levels. Bulletin gives historical summary of nomenclatorial chaos, then main description of supergroup, then summarises basin development. Compositions of Smith Sound, Nares Strait, Baffin Bay, Dundas and Narssârssuk Groups are given.
