| Abstract: | In last 50 years, traditional small, more or less self-sustaining farms, of based on mixed agriculture and fishing, have almost all disappeared, and number of active farms has gone from 6000 in 1949 to 1000 in 1989. Remaining farms are usually based on harvesting manured, intensively used meadows. Authors were able to visit abandoned farms in military area, now nature reserve. 5 farms are in reserve, 2 outside. Survey of vascular flora is given for all 7, based on field visits in 1995 and 1996. Finnish 1930 maps give detailed information on land use then. |
