Record #144007:

Rangifer population ecology: a Scandinavian perspective / Eigil Reimers.

Title: Rangifer population ecology: a Scandinavian perspective / Eigil Reimers.
Author(s): Reimers, Eigil.
Date: 1997.
In: Rangifer. (1997.), Vol. 17(3) (1997)
Abstract: Among wild and domestic reindeer, reproductive performance, calving time, calf birth weight and neonatal mortality are strongly correlated to maternal weight. Most studies indicate that both weaning weight of calf and mature body weight correlate with birth weight. Calf body weight and composition influence rate of attainment of sexual maturity. Unresolved question is whether body weight, hence reproductive performance and neonatal mortality, is more strongly influenced by winter than by summer grazing conditions.
Notes:

Rangifer. Vol. 17(3) :13-17 (1997).

Keywords: 599.735.3 -- Cervidae: Rangifer tarandus.

(*548) -- Scandinavia.
