Abstract: | Guillemots account for c. 70% of prey taken by seabirds in Barents Sea region. Paper presents guillemot chick data collected recently at four localities and collates all data found by authors in literature and in archives of Tromsø Museum, Polar Institute, and Kandalaksha State Nature Reserve. Guillemots consume wide variety of prey and, compared with harvest by fish and marine mammals, impact on ecosystem is considered to be minimal. |
