Renen stressas mer av lassot än helikoptern! / Gustaw Heikka.
Title: | Renen stressas mer av lassot än helikoptern! / Gustaw Heikka. |
Translated title: | Reindeer are more stressed by a lasso than by a helicopter. |
Author(s): | Heikka, Gustaw. |
Date: | 1997. |
Language: | Swedish. |
In: | Samefolket. (1997.), Vol. 78(11) (1997) |
Abstract: | Eva (Ia) Wiklund investigated various kinds of human stress on reindeer, and consequently on meat, for her doctorate. She measured pH values and glycogen in transported and untransported deer. Transport did not affect them, separation in pen happens too quickly to affect values, but lassoing was quite stressful. Calves, especially males, are more affected than adults. Helicopter driving for 20 km per day, for up to three days, changes neither value. |
Notes: | Samefolket. Vol. 78(11) :16-17 (1997). |
