Estimating activity-layer thickness over a large region: Kuparak River basin, Alaska, U.S.A. / F.E. Nelson, N.I. Shiklomanov, G.R. Mueller, Kenneth M. Hinkel, D.A. Walker, J.G. Bockheim.
Title: | Estimating activity-layer thickness over a large region: Kuparak River basin, Alaska, U.S.A. / F.E. Nelson, N.I. Shiklomanov, G.R. Mueller, Kenneth M. Hinkel, D.A. Walker, J.G. Bockheim. |
Author(s): | Nelson, F. E. Shiklomanov, N. I. Mueller, G. R. Hinkel, Kenneth M. Walker, D. A. Bockheim, J. G. |
Date: | 1997. |
In: | Arctic and Alpine Research. (1997.), Vol. 29(4) (1997) |
Abstract: | Reports use of geographic information systems to produce detailed regional maps of active-layer thickness. Study uses climate data collected at sites distributed over large area, draws on database based on widespread and intensive sampling of thaw depth, and bases spatial extrapolations on digital elevation data and land-cover classes derived from Landsat imagery. |
Notes: | Arctic and Alpine Research. Vol. 29(4) :367-378 (1997). |
Keywords: | 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. 551.345 -- Permafrost. Cryopedology. 551.345.1 -- Permafrost, surveys. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (*49) -- Alaska. (*494) -- Alaska, northwestern. |
