Record #143562:

A strategy for monitoring glaciers / Andrew G. Fountain, Robert M. Krimmel, Dennis C. Trabant.

Title: A strategy for monitoring glaciers / Andrew G. Fountain, Robert M. Krimmel, Dennis C. Trabant.
Author(s): Fountain, Andrew G.
Krimmel, Robert M.
Trabant, Dennis C.
Date: 1997.
In: US Geological Survey. Circular. (1997.), Vol. 1132 (1997)
Abstract: Outlines monitoring strategy for United States. Proposes three levels of surveillance. 1. Detailed monitoring of one glacier in each glacierized region to define seasonal mass-balance processes, meteorological environment, and water runoff. 2. Measurement of several glaciers in each region for seasonal mass balance only. 3. Remote sensing of glaciers using aerial photography and satellite images to define changing areal extent and pattern of snow and ice exposure on large number of glaciers.
