Abstract: Picture tour of Arctic has chapters on Thule-Qaanaaq, Chukotka, Nem-cha (Kanin Peninsula), Ellesmere, Noril'sk, "nanoq" (bears of Scoresbysund), "qajaq" (kayak, Greenland), "severnaya" and Gulag Archipelago, Nunavut, Sirius patrol, killer whale, Utsi (young Saami), "Oden" icebreaker visiting Pole, tundra of North Sakha, "tuttu" (caribou of Alaska), and Svalbard, and particularly indigenous peoples of these parts and their lives. Title means "good, fine" and refers to authors' belief that way of life, and its relationship to nature, can continue for sizeable proportion of indigenous population, despite aspects of modernisation.
