Abstract: Essay starts by emphasising that autonomy is concept used differently in law, economics and political science. Danish Home Rule model is formally expressed in Acts of 1948 and 1978, and was granted to population in territory. History from 870 is sketched, with model first established in parliamentary Act of 1871 that set out Icelandic constitution. Nine characteristics of model are listed, including Danish retention of mineral rights and income transfers. Granting procedure remains unclear.
