Record #142338:
Early Weichselian insect faunas from northern Sweden: climatic and environmental implications / Geoffrey Lemdahl.
Title: | Early Weichselian insect faunas from northern Sweden: climatic and environmental implications / Geoffrey Lemdahl. |
Author(s): | Lemdahl, Geoffrey. |
Date: | 1997. |
In: | Arctic and Alpine Research. (1997.), Vol. 29(1) (1997) |
Abstract: | 93 taxa were identified in samples from 17 sites. Beetles dominated. Habitat preferences indicate that open Arctic tundra prevailed during the two interstadials, Peräpohjola and Tärendö. Environment included aquatic, moist and xeric habitats. Aquatic taxa were more abundant in kettle hole sites than in others. Contemporary mean seasonal temperatures were reconstructed by MCR method. Summer temperatures at least 5°C lower than present were estimated for both interstadials. Winters of younger interstadial were at least 10°C lower than at present. |
