Record #142336:
A wintertime in situ profile of BrO between 17 and 27 km in the Arctic vortex / Karena A. McKinney, James M. Pierson, Darin W. Toohey.
Title: | A wintertime in situ profile of BrO between 17 and 27 km in the Arctic vortex / Karena A. McKinney, James M. Pierson, Darin W. Toohey. |
Author(s): | McKinney, Karena A. Pierson, James M. Toohey, Darin W. |
Date: | 1997. |
In: | Geophysical Research Letters. (1997.), Vol. 24(8) (1997) |
Abstract: | Vertical profile was measured from balloon launched near Kiruna at sunrise on 3 Feb. 1995. Measurements indicate that 30 - 60% of total bromine was in form of BrO between 23 and 27 km. Results are consistent with lower altitude measurements from NASA ER-2 at similar latitudes and season. Higher fractions of BrO in chemically perturbed region imply rapid release of bromine from photolabile reservoir species such as BrCl. |
