| Abstract: | Unexpectedly large variations of HCl zenith column amounts were seen over Kiruna in Arctic winters of 1991/92 and 1992/93. Trajectory calculations prove strong dependence of HCl variation on origin of air mass involved. Effect cannot be explained by different altitudes of tropopause; causes may be chlorine activation and ozone destruction. |
