Record #141971:

Using spaceborne imaging radar to identify lake water resources on the Alaskan North Slope / Martin O. Jeffries, Kim Morris, G.E. Liston.

Title: Using spaceborne imaging radar to identify lake water resources on the Alaskan North Slope / Martin O. Jeffries, Kim Morris, G.E. Liston.
Author(s): Jeffries, Martin O.
Morris, Kim.
Liston, G. E.
Date: 1996.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Civil Engineers
In: Cold Regions Engineering. The Cold Regions Infrastructure : an International Imperative for the 21st Century. Proceedings of the 8th International Conference, held 12-16 August 1996, Fairbanks, AK. (1996.),
Abstract: Uses spaceborne synthetic aperture radar to identify and differentiate between lakes that freeze completely to the bottom and those that do not on two areas of Alaska's North Slope, and physically based numerical model to simulate ice growth on these lakes. Finds considerable contrast between lake depth and water availability between Barrow and "B" lakes region. This comparatively simple method could be used to determine lake depth and water availability over whole North Slope and other polar polar areas.
