Abstract: Describes situation of Norwegian Communist Party at end of WW2, its size, distribution, policies, control. By 1949 it had lost all representation in Storting, and was only Communist party that decreased right from 1949, when Johan Strand Johansen set up drastic purge, to 1993. Author has worked in Moscow since 1992, with Vadim Roginskiy at Historical Institute, on material from 1945-52. This includes Mikhael Suslov's memorandum on support for NKP and condemnation of Peder Furubotn, former party secretary. Final moves are not yet clear, but may have reached dictator level.
