Abstract: Bases survey on new documents from Russian archives including Imperial records. Eventful years are seen in their effects on Norway's relationship to Russia's two revolutions, diplomatic contacts and internal politics of Norway. These include recognition, desire of many in Norway to emulate Russia, growing disillusionment, multi-faceted response of Norwegian governments to "workers' movement" and assessment by Soviet ambassadress, Alexandra Kollontay, of situation in 1924: " we must see that liberals are our only supporters for present... Communist influence is virtually nil. Workers' Party split and moving away from us". Northern intervention by entente and Finnish claim to Petsamo are described.
