Stress and temperature effects on silt frost heave / Seyed M. Marandi, Douglas I. Stewart, Terrence W. Cousens.
Title: | Stress and temperature effects on silt frost heave / Seyed M. Marandi, Douglas I. Stewart, Terrence W. Cousens. |
Author(s): | Marandi, Seyed M. Stewart, Douglas I. Cousens, Terrence W. |
Date: | 1996. |
Publisher: | New York: American Society of Civil Engineers |
In: | Cold Regions Engineering. The Cold Regions Infrastructure : an International Imperative for the 21st Century. Proceedings of the 8th International Conference, held 12-16 August 1996, Fairbanks, AK. (1996.), |
Abstract: | Investigates behaviour of silt-sized crushed quartz in one-dimensional step freezing tests. Data show effect of overburden stress and temperature gradient on segregated ice formation in this soil. Suggests if Segregation Potential is to be meaningful index, it must be measured at standardised temperature gradient. |
