Abstract: Describes career and writings of Saami born in Calmni-Varre, site of ancient cliff drawings, in 1934. She wrote in Turja Saami but spoke three other dialects. First to write in Saami, she drew on long oral tradition. In 1950s she helped Prof Kert to collect Kola Saami material. She never saw her work printed in original. Her sister's book has been published in North Saami as well as Kola version.
