Assessment of sea-ice conditions using two-channel active and passive microwave systems / G.I. Bel'chanskiy, D.C. Douglas, N.N. Kozlenko.
Title: | Assessment of sea-ice conditions using two-channel active and passive microwave systems / G.I. Bel'chanskiy, D.C. Douglas, N.N. Kozlenko. |
Author(s): | Bel'chanskiy, G. I. Douglas, D. C. Kozlenko, N. N. |
Date: | 1996. |
In: | Polar Geography. (1996.), Vol. 20(4) (1996) |
Abstract: | An algorithm is developed for assessing types and concentrations of sea ice from microwave sensors, using a priori values of scattering parameters and natural emission of basic types of ice for corresponding characteristics of observation system (frequency, polarization and observation angle) and linear mixture model for measured radio-brightness temperature and specific effective scattering area. Results of side-looking satellite radar monitoring of Barents-Kara-Laptev Seas and adjacent Arctic Ocean were used for database and chart work. |
