| Abstract: | Certain information about Swedish Saami who migrated into Norway with their deer exists from 16th Cent. Before authorities began to regulate it, whole of Troms was summer pasture for them. Later, Swedes were forced further and further back, to advantage of Norwegian Saami. Closing of Finnish border and immigration of farmers from south constricted herders. Laws and agreements of 1883, 1905, 1913, 1919 (abandoned by Norway in 1961), 1949 and 1972 are described. |
