Abstract: "North Calotte" is political term first launched by Nordic Council in 1957, and BEAR became official in 1993. Book studies two aspects: regionalisation related to trends and processes in Europe; regionalisation in whole circumpolar North. Former weakens role of sovereign state and passes power to central organs of EU. Latter includes Inuit Circumpolar Conference, Northern Forum (including Japan and South Korea). There are also scientific and academic liaisons, including Rovaniemi process, Arctic Council and BEAR. Since end of Cold War, indigenous people have become more prominent.
