| Abstract: | 210 m of formation were sampled to study palaeomagnetism and cycle stratigraphy. Palaeomagnetic samples were also taken from underlying Gipsdalen Formation. Mean characteristic directions were stable and consistent with northward drift of East Greenland of c. 10 deg. from arid to semi-humid belts in Triassic. Seven normal and reversed polarity intervals are clearly seen. Correlation with reference polarity sequence suggests that sample represents c. 3.5 m.y. of late Norian. |
