Abstract: Dorset Culture still obsesses archaeologists in East Greenland and on Southampton Island - where did culture and its people go? It disappeared from High Arctic c. AD 1000 and from Ungava Bay region in 15th. Cent. Harpoon head, important for diagnosis, was incorporated into Thule Culture of eastern Arctic. Paper shows how morphological traits of Late Dorset harpoon heads can be recognised in Early Greenland Thule Culture, and provides explanation. ¹⁴C datings of latter are presented and discussed.
