| Abstract: | Chemistry of water cycle is described, with special reference to Icelandic conditions of hot, mineral-laden groundwater. Map shows effects of height and distance from sea on chloride content of atmosphere over Iceland. Chemistry of acids, bases and action of water on minerals in rocks are explained. Varying pH of surface water, cold groundwater and geothermal water is shown, with concentrations of calcium, calcium ions and boron in same three water bodies, plotted against temperature. |
