Abstract: | Iceland's eruptions have characteristic high temperature, production of much lava and limited production of ash. Horizontality is preserved. Connections and differences between tectonics and vulcanism are commented on, and special characteristics of Iceland are noted - author describes it as "stretching" tectonics, while Germany's is "squashing". |
