Abstract: Many seabirds dive deep after food. A guillemot can dive repeatedly to 100 m, a penguin to nearer 300. Article discusses how they do it, particularly oxygen conservation, and modern methods of measuring their feats. Internal temperature (needed for digestion) can also be monitored.
