| Abstract: | 19 seals were tagged for satellite tracking on ice near Jan Mayen, 15 after moult in July 1992, 4 during breeding in March 1993. Most tags did not last until moulting, but stayed on longer than any known to date. 12 834 location fixes were made. Several dives greater than 1000 m were recorded. Two seals remained near Greenland for most of tracking period; most made trips away, mostly to distant waters. |
