| Abstract: | First half is story of Daugaard-Jensen's work in Greenland from start of century, leading to his post as Director of government from 1912-1938. From Inspector's post in North Greenland, a chance to immerse himself deeply in ways of old Greenland, before his role began of overseeing changes, with all its accompanying politics, from more central position down south. District and central councils were his idea. Second half is from Daugaard-Jensen's own memoirs, including country education in Denmark in 1878, travels in Greenland, visit of King, sketch of "word master" Knud Rasmussen and résumé of Hague Court case against Norwegian claim to eastern Greenland. |
