Record #140313:

North Atlantic sea surface conditions during the Younger Dryas cold event / Jean-Claude Duplessy, Laurent D. Labeyrie, M. Paterne.

Title: North Atlantic sea surface conditions during the Younger Dryas cold event / Jean-Claude Duplessy, Laurent D. Labeyrie, M. Paterne.
Author(s): Duplessy, Jean-Claude.
Labeyrie, Laurent D.
Paterne, M.
Date: 1996.
Publisher: Bath: Geological Society
In: Late Quaternary palaeoceanography of the North Atlantic Margins. (1996.),
Abstract: Map showing main trends of sea surface temperature field during Younger Dryas has been drawn from study of oxygen isotopic composition (δ¹⁸O) of planktonic foraminifera which deposited shells in isotopic equilibrium with ambient surface waters. Map shows no δ¹⁸O anomaly associated with continental ice-sheet melting, so rules out theories relating Younger Dryas cooling to injection of continental ice-sheet meltwater with very low δ¹⁸O value into North Atlantic. Conclusions about Arctic sea ice and its effect on climate in last deglaciation are suggested.
