Abstract: | Report on research by Aleksandr Pavlov who investigated reasons why Prontishchev, during Bering Expedition, named a promontory in Laptev Sea Mariya although his wife was called Tatyana, based on archives of Naval Museum of St Petersburg. Prontishchev had already discovered two islands which he named Petr and Samuil. Includes illustration of icebreaker Yakutsk by Pavlov. |
