| Abstract: | Author describes rapid changes in usability of photography during Nansen's exploring career and consequent change in balance of illustrations in his books. Most of Nansen's pictures, unlike Amundsen's, showed lyrical/ romantic traits. After North Pole attempt, Nansen had several reconstructions photographed by Jackson. Work of several other devoted photographers on Nansen's voyage are described. Article ends with statistics of major Nansen collection in Oslo of 3620 items, 3500 on database. |
