Record #140043:

Description of ice cover in view of ice load calculation / Kim Englund, Pentti Kujala, Kaj Riska.

Title: Description of ice cover in view of ice load calculation / Kim Englund, Pentti Kujala, Kaj Riska.
Author(s): Englund, Kim.
Kujala, Pentti.
Riska, Kaj.
Date: 1996.
Publisher: Helsinki: Helsinki University of Technology, Ship Laboratory
Abstract: Describes the relationship between ice cover parameters and ice loading on a ship hull. Seas in the Northern hemisphere are also described, with their development of seasonal and multi-year ice, its coverage, maximum thickness and ridging information. Present theories about ice loads are very simple, but are considered adequate. An ice-hull impact model is described and applied to data from the MS Arcturus from 1985 to 1988.
