Abstract: | Previous K-Ar and Rb-Sr datings of metamorphic and granitic rocks from north-western basement region of Spitsbergen show main cooling time of rocks, except for Rb-Sr isochron age of Hornemantoppen granitoids and grey granites. Dioritic dyke was also dated by latter method. Bulk rock chemistry shows that most of both granitic rocks are of S-type and probably post- orogenic, incorporating crustal materials. Preliminary results from multi- grain zircon evaporation method imply Palaeo- and Mesoproterozoic protoliths for metamorphic rocks of this area. |
