Abstract: Last ice age killed off many trees prviously found in Greenland. But in southern Greenland it has been possible since 1960s to establish woodland of alpine and Arctic species. No such collection is found anywhere else in world. Since 1981 it has been turning into an arboretum. Plants from far North are not suitable, as they grow too little in summer's shorter days.
