Abstract: In Eigil Knuth issue former assistant considers his endless archaeological work in Peary Land and on Independence Cultures, starting from Vandfaldsnaes. Article describes Knuth's development of theory of these cultures and confirmation by dating. "Palae" is play on "palaeo" and "palace", referring to their hut circles. He found 64 Independence I sites and 28 Independence IIs, besides many hundred Thule ones. Many humorous touches.
