Abstract: Study of Inuit identity which seeks to describe identity in terms of individual experience and collective experiences. Proceeds by placing these two elements into relation with political situation of contemporary Inuit, particularly with their quest for self-determination. Author concludes that maintenance of cultural identity is process related to symbolic control.
