Record #139458:

The Jan Mayen current from 1989 and 1990 summer data / Marla D. Stone.

Title: The Jan Mayen current from 1989 and 1990 summer data / Marla D. Stone.
Author(s): Stone, Marla D.
Date: 1996.
Publisher: California: [US Navy]
Abstract: As part of Greenland Sea Project, hydrographic survey of 45 CTD stations was conducted near Jan Mayen Current in August 1990 and comparisons made with similar survey from Sep. 1989. Both years JMC seems to be both part of East Greenland Current flowing eastward in Greenland Sea Gyre and anti-cyclonic meander north of Jan Mayen. Meander is concentrated in upper 100 m, while remainder continues eastward. In 1990 surface was warmer and fresher, subsurface temperature minimum lower and volume of water occupied by JMC half that in previous year.
