The significance of carnivory for three Pinguicula species in a sub-Arctic environment / P. Staffan Karlsson, Brita M. Svensson, Bengt Å. Carlsson.

Title: The significance of carnivory for three Pinguicula species in a sub-Arctic environment / P. Staffan Karlsson, Brita M. Svensson, Bengt Å. Carlsson.

Date: 1996.
In: Ecological Bulletins. (1996.), Vol. 45 (1996)
Abstract: Studies on in situ prey capture and influence of prey capture on nutrient economy and growth are summarised and related to demographic characteristics for three Pinguicula species in sub-Arctic Scandinavia. They are similar in many respects, but prefer very different habitats, from nutrient-rich calcareous soils to very poor Spahgnum bogs. Experiments were carried out to evaluate effects of trapping rate on growth, with relationships between plant size, seed production, fecundity and mortality.
