Abstract: Describes threat to ground-nesting birds from relics of human occupation - cats and rats. Anthus antarcticus is recent species, developed from Falkland type. Only birds more than 50 cm long can stand up to rats. On west of island and islets there are no rats and nesting is safe. On other islands rabbits are also pest.
