Record #139181:

Zur Verbreitung und Respiration ökologisch wichtiger Bodentiere in den Gewässern um Svalbard (Arktis) / Michael K. Schmid.

Title: Zur Verbreitung und Respiration ökologisch wichtiger Bodentiere in den Gewässern um Svalbard (Arktis) / Michael K. Schmid.
Translated title: On the distribution and oxygen consumption of ecologically important benthic animals in the waters around Svalbard.
Author(s): Schmid, Michael K.
Date: 1996.
Language: German.
In: Berichte zur Polarforschung = Reports on Polar Research. (1996.), Vol. 202 (1996)
Abstract: Author attempts to determine importance of particular species, taxa and consumer types by combining respiration rates and abundances. In summer 1991 RV Polarstern sampled 19 stations in water between 150 and 2000 m deep both in ice-free shelf of Barents Sea and in permanently ice-covered shelf area north of islands. 14 key species were chosen, forming 4 main groups differing principally on depth. Suspension feeders dominated shallow stations. Substrate feeders were more important in deeper water and higher latitudes.
