Title: Reinbeitene sett fra satellitt / Bernt Johansen, Hans Tømmervik, Stein Rune Karlsen.
Translated title: Reindeer pastures seen from satellite.

Date: 1996.
Language: Norwegian.
In: Ottar. (1996.), Vol. 3 (1996)
Abstract: One fifth of earth's surface is reindeer pasture. Such huge areas can be surveyed only from satellite. Need for sustainable production makes satellite surveys indispensible. Wild deer are more vulnerable to disease, parasites and predation than semi-tame ones. Article explains some principles and difficulties of satellite photo interpretation, illustrated from Finnmarksvidda with specific areas and percentages of good, medium and bad cover, and even signs of erosion beginning.
