Record #139040:

Analysis of snowy owl (Nyctea scandiaca) pellets collected in Hold with Hope, East Greenland, July-August 1988 / John V.N. Turner.

Title: Analysis of snowy owl (Nyctea scandiaca) pellets collected in Hold with Hope, East Greenland, July-August 1988 / John V.N. Turner.
Author(s): Turner, John V. N.
Date: 1996.
In: Polar Record. (1996.), Vol. 32(182) (1996)
Abstract: No owls were observed, but pellets and skeletons were found. It is surmised that absence was due to 1988 being "no lemming year". Lemming nests that had been under snow were found. Low numbers of bird chicks suggested that owls had had to turn to these for food. All pellets were exclusively of lemming bits.
