Record #138771:

The geochemistry of podzol soils and its relation to lake water chemistry, Finnish Lapland / Anne-Maj Kähkönen.

Title: The geochemistry of podzol soils and its relation to lake water chemistry, Finnish Lapland / Anne-Maj Kähkönen.
Author(s): Kähkönen, Anne-Maj.
Date: 1996.
In: Geological Survey of Finland. Bulletin. (1996.), Vol. 385 (1996)
Abstract: Geochemistry and importance of catchment surface area to lake-water chemistry were studied in 90 catchments. Estimated annual sulphur deposition was from 1 gm/m₂ in NE Lapland to 0.3 in west. Three selective leaches were used to determine solubility and, of main elements, cation exchange capacity, base saturation and pH in different horizons of soils. Main chemical characteristics of lake-water samples were determined to SF standards. High levels of sulphur were mainly due to sulphide minerals, except in NE where Nikel smelters caused them.
