Abstract: Article explains effect on landscape of hundreds or thousands of years' human activity. First known agriculture in North Norway was in Stone Age 4300 years ago in Lofoten and South Troms. In Nordland and West Finnmark it came several hundred years later. In North it is difficult to distinguish between hay crop and grazing because snow and summer growth force movement of animals. Modernisation of methods, crops and equipment and breeding changes in stock are described.
