Record #138080:

A sea of images: fishers, whalers, and environmentalists / Níels Einarsson.

Title: A sea of images: fishers, whalers, and environmentalists / Níels Einarsson.
Author(s): Einarsson, Níels.
Date: 1996.
Publisher: Iowa City: University of Iowa Press
Abstract: Article examines attitudes felt by Icelandic fishermen, especially small-scale fishermen, who really do experience peace and beauty of nature, to ignorant conservationists. Minke whales are not only danger to small boats, but also eat large quantities of fish. Incidentally, some Icelanders at beginning of century described harpooning of whales as cruel, and some today see sport fishing as cruel, since "good sport" corresponds to slow death.
