| Abstract: | Territory extending westwards from White Sea as far as watershed with Gulf of Bothnia, i.e. north-eastern Karelia, was under families from Käkisalmi district at this period. Permanent habitation was concentrated in area around lower Kemi river, while northern part contained only Lapp settlements, destroyed in war of 1589. Districts in area became known as "Lapp parishes" and part of Kola as "forest Lapland". |
